In French class we have a Math sheet daily, except on weekends and holidays.  This sheet is a reinforcement of what we are doing in class and is written in English so that your child may see the English terminology for the
French Math vocabulary he or she has learned in class.

Homework is a key component to success in first grade. Reading homework is dated and sent home Monday-Thursday. On Monday the list of reading vocabulary words and the list of weekly spelling words are sent home. These lists are to be kept at home and practiced daily. Sentences with vocabulary words will be sent home on Monday to be reviewed each night. Spelling assignments are given Monday-Wednesday. On Thursday the students study words for the Friday Spelling test. AR Reading books are sent home to be read and recorded. Thank you so much for helping at home.

Later we are going to incorporate dictation sentences into the weekly spelling test. The five dictation sentences will be sent home on Monday to be practiced daily. On Friday the students will be required to write two sentences chosen by the teacher. Correct capitalization, punctuation, and spelling of each word will be assessed on the test. One grade will be given for the individual spelling words and one grade for the dictation sentences.
